Tianjin Vocational College of Arts and Crafts is the only fine arts higher vocational college in Tianjin that specializes in cultivating art and design talents. It currently offers 14 art majors and recruits students from all over the country. Over the past 50 years since the establishment of the school, a group of arts and crafts education and professional design talents have been gathered, and a high-quality teacher team with well-known experts and professors as academic leaders has been established. Nowadays, Tianjin Vocational College of Arts and Crafts is a distinctive fine arts higher vocational college integrating arts and crafts education, design services and art creation, and has become the cradle for training modern arts and crafts designers.
■ In 1959, the Hebei Provincial Party Committee and Tianjin Municipal Party Committee decided to establish Tianjin Academy of Arts and Crafts;
■ In 1962, Tianjin Academy of Arts and Crafts was adjusted and enriched and rebuilt into Tianjin Arts and Crafts Design Institute;
■ In 1963, approved by the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and filed by the Ministry of Culture, the Tianjin Arts and Crafts School was established;
■ In 1984, approved by the Tianjin Municipal Government, the Tianjin Workers' College of Arts and Crafts was established on the basis of the existing school;
■ Approved by the Tianjin Municipal Government in April 2002, it was merged by the North China Folk Art School, Tianjin Art School, and Tianjin Workers' Arts and Crafts College (including Tianjin Arts and Crafts School) to establish Tianjin Vocational College of Culture and Art;
■ In December 2004, with the approval of the Tianjin Municipal Government, the former Tianjin Workers College of Arts and Crafts (including Tianjin Arts and Crafts School) was separated from Tianjin Culture and Art Vocational College, and Tianjin Arts and Crafts Vocational College was established.
