Tianjin Electronic Information Vocational and Technical College is a full-time higher vocational and technical college approved by the Tianjin Municipal People's Government and registered with the Ministry of Education. It is a national model school. Its predecessor can be traced back to the "29 1 Technical School" established in 1953 by the former Bureau of Telecommunications Industry of the Second Ministry of Machinery (later renamed as the Tenth Bureau). In July 1979, the name of the school was changed to "Tianjin Radio Mechanical School". In January 2000, the Tianjin Municipal Education Commission decided to merge the "Tianjin Radio Mechanical School" and the "Tianjin Instrument Radio Industry School" to form the "Tianjin Electronic Information School". On January 15, 2001, with the approval of the Tianjin Municipal People's Government, the "Tianjin Electronic Information School" and the "Tianjin Employee Electronic Instrument Engineering College" merged to form the "Tianjin Electronic Information Vocational and Technical College". So far, on the basis of the merger of the three schools, the college was formally established.
Bathed in the country’s vigorous development of vocational education, the college has achieved rapid development in recent years. In 2007, the college became the first batch of exemplary higher vocational colleges in Tianjin. In 2008, the college passed the establishment of a national exemplary higher vocational college and passed the acceptance in 2011 with an excellent level. In 2011, the college moved into Haihe Education Park as a whole. In 2012, as the first batch of Tianjin higher vocational colleges and ordinary colleges to jointly train talents pilot unit (two B), the college cooperated with Tianjin University of Technology to set up the "Communication Technology" major, and jointly develop technology applications and high-end skills.
