History
The predecessor of the college was Tianjin Railway Engineering School and Tianjin Railway Branch Staff Training Center (merged from the original Tianjin Railway Adult Technical School and Tianjin Railway Transportation Technical School). The Tianjin Railway Engineering School was established in 1951 and was the first batch of national key technical secondary schools. The school is an advanced unit of vocational education in the country. From 1958 to 1962, it was restructured into the Tianjin Railway Institute at the junior level; Tianjin Railway Adult Secondary School was established in 1953. It is a national key adult professional school and is documented by UNESCO. As the "representative of Chinese employee education"; Tianjin Railway Transportation Technical School was established in 1986 and was the first batch of national key technical schools.
In September 2004, during the reform of the social functions of separating enterprises from the railway system, the Tianjin Railway Engineering School and the Tianjin Railway Branch Staff Training Center were transferred to Tianjin at the same time. In order to meet the needs of the development of the rail transit industry, Tianjin Railway Vocational and Technical College was established with the approval of the Tianjin Municipal People's Government in December 2004.
