Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University

The Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University (formerly Shanghai Medical University) was founded in 1927 and was named the National Fourth Sun Yat-sen University School of Medicine. In 1932, he became the National Shanghai Medical College (Shangyi for short). The school motto is "Zheng Yi Ming Dao", from the "Han Shu · Dong Zhongshu Biography": Zheng Qi Yi does not seek profit, knowing the way does not count any merit. In 2000, Shanghai Medical University and Fudan University merged to form the new Fudan University. In 2012, the new Shanghai Medical College was established as a party and government agency of Fudan University. According to the school’s authorization, it exercises talent training, scientific research, discipline construction, development planning, resource allocation, and foreign exchanges. In 2017, the Working Committee of Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University of the Communist Party of China (referred to as the Party Working Committee of Shanghai Medical College) was established as a dispatched institution of the school's party committee. On December 21, 2018, the Ministry of Education, the National Health Commission, and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government formally signed a contract to jointly build and host the Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University and its directly affiliated hospitals. On June 14, 2019, the leading group of Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University announced the meeting. The Shanghai Municipal Party Committee decided to establish the Committee of Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University of the Communist Party of China and the Disciplinary Inspection Committee of Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University of the Communist Party of China. On the same day, the pilot construction of high-level local colleges and universities in Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University was officially launched.


There are 9 directly affiliated colleges and departments. The buildings of Shanghai Medical University No. 1 Medical Research Building (Fosun Building), student college, medical library, comprehensive swimming pool, and underground parking garage have been put into use, and No. 2 Medical Research Building is under construction.
