Founded in December 2003, Shanghai Academy of Film Arts is a full-time general higher art college approved by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. It is the second independent college named for film in the country. It is located in Shanghai. In the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park in Pudong New Area, there are now 15 majors in film and television arts, animation games, and digital art design. There are currently nearly 3,000 students in school.
As a co-construction pilot unit for higher art education of the Ministry of Culture, the college adheres to the overall improvement of students’ knowledge, ability, and quality as its mission, emphasizes the high integration of art and technology, comprehensively promotes the integration of industry and education, strengthens practical teaching, and uses skills Focus on the main line and cultivate skilled art professionals. While deepening the integration of industry and academia and establishing an open and interactive talent training model, the college also insists on using international education as a platform to broaden talent training channels.
After eight years of development, the college’s specialty majors in film and television arts, animation and games have become dominant majors and have achieved fruitful results. It has developed into a characteristic art academy with active artistic creation, outstanding industry-university achievements, and distinctive school-running characteristics. The high ground for training modern digital art talents and the main position for harmonious cultural creation and dissemination.
