Shanghai Vocational and Technical College of Agriculture and Forestry is the only higher vocational and technical college in Shanghai featuring modern urban agriculture. The agricultural professional system covers agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, sideline fishery and other agricultural majors, and basically meets the needs of modern urban agriculture in Shanghai. The city's first-class higher vocational college construction and cultivation unit, the first batch of modern apprenticeship colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education, Shanghai civilized campus, national greening model unit, national civilized unit.
In 2002, the school was established on the basis of the Shanghai Agricultural School, with a school history dating back to 1947. Carrying forward the school motto of "Encourage farming and live life," and the spirit of campus culture, adhering to the school-running purpose of "establishing a school with special characteristics for agriculture", it has cultivated a large number of management and technical talents for Shanghai agriculture. At present, 70% of the management and technical personnel on the agricultural front in Shanghai are graduates of our college.
The college now has six departments, one department, one department, the department of plant science and technology, the department of landscape architecture technology, the department of animal science and technology, the department of agricultural biology and ecological technology, the department of agricultural economics and management, the department of agricultural information engineering, the department of basic science and the school of Marxism. 21 majors have been opened, forming 6 major agricultural specialty groups including gardening technology, gardening technology, animal medicine, biotechnology and application, agricultural economic management and agricultural information technology. The four majors of gardening technology, gardening technology, animal medicine, pharmaceutical biotechnology, and facility agriculture and equipment are Shanghai's first-class construction majors. At present, there are 18 quality courses at the municipal level and above, and 10 municipal teaching teams (including teacher teaching innovation teams). There are 326 faculty members, including 55 professors and associate professors. There are more than 4,000 full-time students. The usable land area is 1448 mu.
The college has been awarded as Shanghai Characteristic Higher Vocational Colleges, Shanghai Safe and Civilized Campus, Shanghai Safe Demonstration Unit, Shanghai Water-saving School, Shanghai Garden Unit, Shanghai Advanced Unit for Recruitment Work, Shanghai University Graduates' Three Advanced collectives in the "Support One Support" plan. The training base of the college is the National Agricultural Internet of Things Demonstration Base and the National Youth Agricultural Science Demonstration Base. It has a special vocational skill appraisal station of the Ministry of Agriculture Agriculture-176 and Shanghai No. 82 Vocational Skills Appraisal Institute.
