Shanghai Tourism College

Shanghai Tourism College was established in 1979. It was the earliest independent tourism college in China. It was named "Shanghai Tourism and Tourism College" and was affiliated to the Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office; in 1980, the Ministry of Education approved it to be renamed as "Shanghai Tourism College". ; In 1986, it was placed under the leadership of the National Tourism Administration; in 1992, it was renamed "Shanghai Tourism College"; in 2000, it was placed under the leadership of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission; A unified educational institution under one name; among them, Shanghai Tourism College is an independent legal entity that carries out specialist education. In 2011, it successfully passed the acceptance of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, and became the only national demonstrative higher vocational college for tourism in the country.


The school has two campuses, Haisi Road in Fengxian District and Wuzhong Road in Minhang District. It also has teaching and office sites on the Xuhui campus of Shanghai Normal University. The core campus covers an area of 326 acres and has more than 30,000 square meters of teaching practice sites ("13th Five-Year Plan"). It is planned to establish a comprehensive laboratory building of 18,000 square meters), with a total value of 76 million yuan for teaching equipment; the library currently has more than 380,000 paper books, more than 160,000 e-books for tourism, more than 400 kinds of Chinese and foreign newspapers and periodicals, and e-books. The school adheres to the school-running philosophy of "oriented to the world, relying on industries, and serving industries", focusing on connotation construction, and innovating in the training of tourism talents.
