Shanghai University of Political Science and Law is a young, beautiful, energetic, full of political and legal characteristics, and a relatively high level of comprehensive education. It is known as "a garden school at the foot of Sheshan" and "a training base for legal talents."

History

It was built in 1984. The predecessor was Shanghai Municipal Law Management Cadre College, Shanghai College of Law and Law School of Shanghai University. The enrollment of general education undergraduates began in 1993, and the enrollment of postgraduates began in 1998. In September 2004, with the approval of the municipal government, it was established as the Shanghai School of Political Science and Law on the basis of the Shanghai University Law School and the Shanghai Municipal Law School for Management Cadres. In November 2014, the school was transferred from the Shanghai Politics and Law System to the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and was jointly established by the Municipal Education Commission and the Municipal Justice Bureau. The school is a pilot training institution for the reform of the recruitment and training system for the central political and legal police officers, and a member unit of the "League" alliance of national political and legal universities.

Existing first-level master degree programs in law (including law theory, constitution and administrative law, criminal law, international law, procedural law, civil and commercial law, economic law, environmental and resource protection law, Marxism in China, international politics, etc. 10 Two second-level discipline master's degree points) and the master of law professional degree awarding point. Approved by the Shanghai Academic Degrees Committee, since 2017, our school has been listed as a new doctoral degree granting unit and project construction institution.

Existing law, prison science, intellectual property, economics, business administration, financial management, international economics and trade, auditing, economics and finance, taxation, sociology, social work, labor and social security, applied psychology, politics There are more than 30 undergraduate majors and directions in science and administration, international politics, administration, Chinese language and literature, journalism, radio and television, radio and television director, English, Russian, and ideological and political education. Law disciplines are Shanghai's top-level disciplines and plateau disciplines (of which, only five universities including Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, East China University of Political Science and Law and our school have been approved as top-tier disciplines in Shanghai universities), administrative law and Criminal sociology is a discipline supported by the central government, administrative law is a key discipline in Shanghai, and administrative law, criminal law, and economic law are key disciplines of the Municipal Education Commission. A number of characteristic disciplines including administrative law, prison science, environmental resources law, international law, criminal sociology, intellectual property rights, international politics, and the Sinicization of Marxism have been formed, some of which are in a leading position in Shanghai and even the country. Faculty

The school has a strong faculty, optimized structure, and reasonable echelon. It has a team of teachers with solid professional theoretical foundation, close contact with domestic and foreign practice circles, rich teaching experience, and an international perspective. There are more than 600 faculty members and nearly 500 full-time teachers. Among them, teachers with senior professional titles account for nearly 50% of the total number of teachers; those with doctoral and master's degrees account for 90% of the total; 90 teachers are qualified as doctoral tutors or master tutors, and a group of teachers hold important positions in national academic organizations . National Strategic Project

The school actively meets the major needs of national and social development and actively serves the national strategy. On September 13, 2013, President Xi Jinping announced at the Bishkek Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization that China will set up a "China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization International Judicial Exchange and Cooperation Training Base" at the Shanghai Institute of Political Science and Law. Member states cultivate judicial talents. This is the first time that the head of state of our country has announced to the world a national project undertaken by a university.

The establishment of the "China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization International Judicial Exchange and Cooperation Training Base" is an important decision made by the central government based on the strategic needs of the international and domestic overall situations. In 2014 and 2015, President Xi successively emphasized at the Dushanbe Summit and Ufa Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization that China should rely on training bases to assist member states in training judicial talents. In May 2014, Meng Jianzhu, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and secretary of the Central Political and Legal Committee, and Kyrgyz President Atambayev attended the foundation laying ceremony of the "China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization International Judicial Exchange and Cooperation Training Base". The training base will be fully completed in 2017.

The school actively serves the national strategy, and gives full play to the three major functions of training base training, talent training, and think tank research, and has achieved a series of results. Relying on the training base, our school, Tsinghua University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and China University of Political Science and Law were approved by the Supreme People’s Court as the "Belt and Road" judicial research base; our school and Tongji University are the first in the country to jointly lead the university. The “One Belt One Road” Collaborative Innovation Center for Security Issues was inaugurated in our school; our school jointly cultivated doctoral students with Zhejiang University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and Macau University of Science and Technology; our school’s “Belt and Road” Security Research Institute and Shanghai Cooperation Organization Research Institute were all evaluated It is the "Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences in Shanghai Universities". International exchange

The school speeds up the process of internationalization. The school is a member of the "Chinese Government Scholarship Training Institutions for International Students", "Sino-American Humanities Program Training Institutions", and "Study in China" Overseas Preparatory Education Alliance, and has been approved to establish the only preparatory education center in the Yangtze River Delta. Since 2013, foreign students will be recruited. At present, it has established friendly cooperative relations with 64 universities and institutions in the world, including well-known international organizations such as The Hague Conference on Private International Law and the International Chamber of Commerce, and world-renowned universities such as the University of Montreal in Canada, the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, and Washington University in St. Louis in the United States. Talent training

In recent years, through the implementation of reforms such as the "High-Quality Student Growth Plan" and the "Top Innovative Talents Training Plan", the quality of our school's students has been continuously improved. In 2017, undergraduate enrollment in 28 provinces, of which more than 20 provinces enrolled in batches.

Facing the severe employment situation of college graduates, the students of Shangzheng have won full recognition from employers and society. The employment rate of graduates has been above 97% for many years, ranking among the top universities in Shanghai. In 2013, it was awarded the title of "Shanghai Advanced Group for Employment Promotion" by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government.

School conditions

The school currently has more than 10,000 full-time postgraduates, undergraduates, international students, and vocational students. The school is located in the scenic Sheshan National Tourism Resort, covering an area of more than 1,000 acres and a building area of more than 250,000 square meters.
