Shanghai University of Engineering Science (Shanghai University of Engineering Science) is a full-time general college of higher learning that integrates engineering, economics, management, art, design and other disciplines and develops coordinatedly. , The national leading unit for the construction of new engineering disciplines in local colleges and universities, and the pilot construction unit for "High-level Local Applied Colleges and Universities" in Shanghai. The school's predecessors were the Shanghai Jiaotong University Mechanical and Electrical Branch, the Shanghai Institute of Chemical Technology Branch (incorporated into the Shanghai Jiaotong University Mechanical and Electrical Branch in 1984) and the Shanghai Textile Institute Branch (renamed as East China Textile Institute Branch in 1980). In 1985, Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology was established on the basis of the above-mentioned institutions. In 2003, Shanghai Advanced Technical School (founded in 1951) was incorporated into Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology as a whole.


The school has campuses in Songjiang, Changning and Hongkou, covering an area of 1,476 acres, with a total construction area of 715,000 square meters, total fixed assets of about 2.4 billion yuan, and teaching and research equipment about 900 million yuan.
