Ordos Vocational College of Ecological Environment

Ordos Ecological Environment Vocational College is a full-time general higher vocational college established on the basis of the original Ordos Agriculture and Animal Husbandry School. The basic positioning of the college is: based on the local area, facing the west, serving the entire region, with full-time higher vocational education as the main body, secondary vocational education, adult continuing education and training, and the development of high political awareness and professional ethics for the economy and society of the autonomous region Applied talents at the specialist level with professional skills.


   The college covers an area of 1,100 acres, with a total construction area of 176,600 square meters and a total investment of 2 billion yuan. The construction project was approved by the Ordos City Development and Reform Commission in 2011, and construction started in the spring of 2012. In September 2013, the original Ordos City Agriculture and Animal Husbandry School was moved here as a whole from Dalate Banner. On February 8, 2014, the People’s Government of the Autonomous Region officially approved the upgrade to a college. On April 28 of the same year, the Ministry of Education passed the review and filing.


   The college has a high starting point for planning and high-level construction. The campus is composed of 22 single buildings including graphic center, teaching building, training building, gymnasium, catering center, teacher-student service center, teacher-student apartment, etc., with reasonable layout, complete functions, complete facilities and beautiful environment. It also has 102 first-class experimental training rooms, 10 training bases, and a collection of more than 300,000 books.


  At present, the college has 5 departments of ecological engineering, biotechnology, electromechanical engineering, municipal engineering, and economic service management. It has opened 20 majors including environmental engineering technology, green food production and inspection, garden technology, municipal engineering technology, and animal medicine. In addition, the college also has affiliated vocational high schools, adult continuing education department, vocational skills appraisal and technical service training center, C category motor vehicle driver training center, scientific research center and doctoral workstation.


   The college currently has 287 faculty members, including 116 teachers with senior professional titles, 50 teachers with master's degree, 6 teachers with doctoral degree, 20 well-known professors in many fields, and 3000 full-time students.


Since its establishment, the college has been adhering to the core concept of “building skills in the world and building a green character”, adheres to the guiding ideology and educational goals of “ethics, knowledge, and skills”. The teaching reform focusing on "production, learning, research and innovation" is to run colleges and universities that suit the growth of students and meet the needs of society. It has successively signed school-enterprise cooperation agreements with more than 50 well-known companies such as Shenhua Shendong Coal Group, Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., Ordos Group, BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd., and Beijing Enterprises Water Group, and established more than 20 off-campus internship training bases. In recent years, the employment rate of graduates has remained above 98%.


   Ordos Ecological Environment Vocational College is an autonomous region-level spiritual civilization model unit. The animal husbandry and veterinary specialty of the college was rated as a national demonstration specialty, and the electromechanical specialty was rated as a national training project investment base and an autonomous region-level boutique specialty. In December 2014, the college was rated as a national environmental education model school; in July 2015, the college party committee was rated as an advanced grassroots party organization by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region University Working Committee; in February 2016, the college was rated as a national greening model unit; in 2017, it was awarded the national Vocational education and employment guidance advanced institutions and other honorary titles.


The college will continue to deepen education and teaching reforms, innovate management models, improve school strength, comprehensively improve the level of talent training, and improve the service economy and service economy.
