The school has a long history and profound cultural heritage. In 1931, the former Suiyuan Province established the Second Suiyuan Provincial Normal School in Jining, which opened the precedent for Ulan Qab teacher education. In 1958, Jining Normal School was established. In the same year, the State Council approved the establishment of Ulan Chabu League Teachers College. In 1976, the People's Government of the Autonomous Region approved the restoration of Wumeng Normal School. After the resumption of the college entrance examination in 1977, college classes began to be enrolled. In 1978, junior college classes were run separately. In 1985, the People’s Government of the Autonomous Region approved the establishment of Ulan Qab Teachers College on the basis of Wumeng Teachers College. In 1995, it was renamed Jining Teachers College. In 2000, Ulan Qab League Normal School and Ulan Qab League Mongolian Normal School were merged into Jining Normal College. In 2009, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Jining Teachers College on the basis of Jining Teachers College. In 2013, the school was granted the right to confer a bachelor's degree. In 2017, the school was officially designated by the People's Government of the Autonomous Region as a pilot school for the overall transformation and development of the entire district.
