Baotou Teachers College, Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology

Baotou Teachers College is an ordinary higher normal college formed by the merger of the original Baotou Teachers College, Baotou Normal School, and Baotou Education College, approved by the Ministry of Education in March 2000. The original Baotou Teachers College was originally named "Baotou Teachers College". It was founded in 1958, closed in 1963, resumed in 1971, and was renamed "Baotou Teachers College" in 1996. The original Baotou Normal School was founded in 1947. The original Baotou Institute of Education was founded in 1978. In June 2003, Baotou Normal University, Baotou Iron and Steel College and Baotou Medical College merged to form Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology. At the end of 2004, with the approval of the People’s Government of the Autonomous Region, the Baotou Normal College of Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology was restored as an ordinary undergraduate normal college with independent legal personality. Over the past 50 years since the establishment of the school, the school has persisted in facing and serving basic education and regional economic and social development. It has accumulated rich experience in running a school and formed distinctive school running characteristics. It has developed into a full-time undergraduate education, postgraduate education, and continuing education. Education is an ordinary higher normal college that integrates pre-employment training and post-employment training.


The school has a college of liberal arts, politics and law, history and culture, foreign languages, fine arts, music, education science, mathematical science, physical science and technology, chemistry, biological science and technology, resources and environment There are 3 teaching and research supporting departments including the College, the College of Physical Education, the College of Information Science and Technology, the College of Marxism, the College of Economics and Management, and the Graphic Information Center. There are 45 undergraduate majors and 22 junior majors. There are currently 13,283 students, including 12,857 full-time undergraduates, 278 junior college students, 69 postgraduate students, and 79 preparatory students. At present, the school has formed a school-running pattern with undergraduate education as the mainstay and the coordinated development of characteristic college education, postgraduate education and continuing education.


   There are 914 faculty members in the school, including 574 full-time teachers, accounting for 62.8% of the total faculty and staff in the school. There are 67 full-time teachers at senior level, 266 associate senior teachers, 38 with Ph.D. and 362 with master's degree. 2 experts enjoying government subsidies, 1 candidate for the “New Century Excellent Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education”, 1 expert with outstanding contribution from the autonomous region, 2 “grassland talents” in the autonomous region, and 1 first-level candidate for the “321 Talent Project” of the autonomous region. There are 3 second-level candidates, 4 "famous teachers of higher education" in the autonomous region, and 25 leading talents of "5512 Project" in Baotou City.


   The school covers an area of 323,700 square meters, with a school building area of 240,786 square meters, fixed assets of 686.52 million yuan, and a total value of 85.99 million yuan in teaching and research equipment. There are 1 autonomous region-level teaching demonstration experimental center and 9 experimental centers. There are 243 practice bases inside and outside the school, a paper collection of 812,900 volumes, an electronic collection of 22,000GB, and 15 full-text abstracts and full-text databases in various Chinese and foreign languages. It has dual-core 10G network, a Gigabit network backbone, a wired network system with 100M switch to the desktop, and a wireless network system covering the whole school. Among them, the network exports cover the China Education and Research Network, and the three major telecom operators total 1,200 megabytes.


Since 2010, school teachers have presided over and undertook 698 scientific research projects at all levels, and won 18 National Natural Science Funds, 20 National Social Science Funds, 8 Ministry of Education projects, 33 Natural Science Funds of the Autonomous Region, and Social Science Planning of the Autonomous Region 42 projects, 104 scientific research projects in colleges and universities in the autonomous region, including 5 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 3 projects from the National Social Science Foundation, 1 project from the Ministry of Education, 7 projects from the Natural Science Foundation of the autonomous region, and social sciences from the autonomous region There are 6 planned projects and 21 scientific research projects in colleges and universities in the autonomous region. Published 3389 papers, 113 of which were indexed by SCI, EI and ISTP. The "Yinshan Academic Journal" sponsored by the school is the source journal of the comprehensive evaluation database of Chinese academic journals, and has successively won honors such as "Excellent Journals of Inner Mongolia Colleges and Universities" and "National Excellent Journals in Ethnic Areas".


The school has always adhered to the implementation of the teaching center position, continuously increased teaching investment, strengthened teaching management, implemented training systems such as the tutorial system, the major and minor system, and the full credit system, focusing on strengthening the foundation, optimizing the structure, and striving to train students into solid basic knowledge. Senior professionals with innovative spirit who have strong practical ability, broad knowledge, and adapt to the needs of modernization. There are 2 national characteristic majors, 2 autonomous regional key construction majors, 7 autonomous regional brand majors, and 25 autonomous regional-level quality courses.


   The school pays attention to cultivating students' innovative and entrepreneurial abilities, actively develops the construction of campus culture, and strives to create a positive, healthy and elegant campus cultural atmosphere and education environment. The students have won many awards in various competitions such as the "Challenge Cup" for college students and the entrepreneurial plan competition. The school has more than 10 scholarships including principal scholarships and comprehensive quality awards to encourage students to study hard and become talents. In recent years, the one-time employment rate of undergraduate graduates has reached over 80%.


The school insists on opening up schools and continuously broadens the channels for foreign exchanges and cooperation. International cooperation in running schools has shown good development prospects. It has successively carried out cooperation exchanges and experts with universities in the United States, Canada, Britain, New Zealand, Belarus, South Korea, Taiwan and other countries or regions. Exchange visits of scholars; signed cooperative education agreements with Fayetteville State University in the United States and Belarusian National University of Culture and Arts, and carried out substantive cooperation; signed academic exchange framework agreement with Korean University of Korea; signed academic cooperation with Taiwan Far East University of Science and Technology Memorandum of exchange; developed a synchronous remote network video course with East Carolina State University in the United States. The school is qualified to recruit international students, and has successively accepted international students from the United States, South Korea and other countries.


   The school has continuously strengthened party building and ideological and political work. It has achieved fruitful results in the construction of spiritual civilization, teacher ethics, school spirit, study style, and campus culture, and created a good atmosphere for education.
