China’s first “New Football School” breaks ground

The 2021 National Youth Football Training Camp “Starry Sky” was launched in conjunction with the ground-breaking ceremony of China’s first New Football School in Kaifeng, Henan Province. Wang Dengfeng, Director General of the Department of Sports, Health and Arts under the MOE and Gao Jianjun, Secretary of the Kaifeng Municipal Party Committee, attended the event.

The construction of the new football school implements a set of guidelines adopted at a recent national meeting on building campus football league systems to boost football education, as well as a tripartite agreement. Earlier in December 2020, the National Youth Campus Football Leading Group Office, the Henan Provincial Department of Education and Kaifeng Municipal People"s Government signed a strategic cooperation agreement on establishing a youth football training camp called “Starry Sky”.

The new football school will combine professional learning, intensive training and practice, and regular games to improve learners’ athletic performance. It is expected to provide an avenue to success for young aspiring footballers.
