Information Session for 44th Session of World Heritage Committee held online

On June 15, the Information and Orientation Session for the 44th Session of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) was held online. Tian Xuejun, Vice Minister of Education, Chairperson of the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, and Chairperson of the 44th Session of the World Heritage Committee presided over the meeting and delivered a speech.

Tian said that, given the developments in the world related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 44th Session of the WHC would be convened mainly online, with the main venue set in Fuzhou, China. Since the 15th extraordinary session of the WHC, China, as the host country has worked closely with the World Heritage Center and consultancies to steadily push forward the preparations for the conference. An official website was also designed and launched for the conference to provide convenient information services for the participants. Tian hoped that all parties could maintain close communication and engage in open dialogue to reach a consensus on issues of common concern, and work together for a successful, efficient and united conference.
