Minister of Education visits Inner Mongolia and Liaoning Province

Recently Minister of Education Chen Baosheng and Vice Minister of Education Sun Yao visited the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (hereinafter referred to as Inner Mongolia) and Liaoning Province to evaluate the progress of educational reforms and the CPC history learning campaign.

During his stay in Inner Mongolia, Chen met with Shi Taifeng, Secretary of Party Committee of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and visited a number of schools, i.e. Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, Inner Mongolia Vocational and Technical College of Communication, Hohhot No. 30 High School, and Chifeng High School for the Mongolian Ethnic Group.

Chen Baosheng also attended a workshop on education, where he listened to reports given by representatives from the education authority of Inner Mongolia, Hohhot municipal government, and educational institutions such as Inner Mongolia University, Inner Mongolia Normal University, Inner Mongolia Technical College of Mechanics and Electrics, and Hohhot Daxuelu Primary School. Chen pointed out that during the 13th Five-Year-Plan period (2016-2020), Inner Mongolia had made marked progress in education. He stressed that in 2021, the first year of the 14th Five-Year-Plan period and the CPC"s 100th founding anniversary, Inner Mongolia should continue to make steady effort to popularize Mandarin Chinese, promote the use of textbooks compiled by the national education authority, and foster in students a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation. Concrete actions should also be taken to accelerate equity and improve quality in basic education.

During his stay in Liaoning, Chen Baosheng met with Liu Ning, Governor of Liaoning Province. Chen also inspected a number of learning programs launched by local schools, including a museum displaying the development of Marxism in China at Liaoning Finance and Trade College, a modern apprentice workshop at Bohai Shipbuilding Vocational College, and a training center for innovation and entrepreneurship at Liaoning Technical University.

Chen pointed out that during the 14th Five-Year-Plan period (2021-2025), comprehensive education reform should be conducted to promote balanced and all-round development of education. Vocational colleges and technical colleges should keep abreast with the latest social, technological and industry trends, enhance industry-school partnerships, and develop strategically important, cutting-edge academic disciplines.

Chen attended a Party history learning activity organized by students from the School of Electrical and Control Engineering, Liaoning Technical University. He said it was of great importance for college students to learn more about the history of the CPC. The valuable qualities of the older generations of Chinese communists such as perseverance, modesty, integrity, hardworking, and conviction should continue to be the guide for all CPC members, and a deeper understanding of CPC’s history could reshape our worldviews, and eventually help us to bring better changes to the real world.
