Careers fair organized for Hubei 2021 graduates

The MOE organized a career forum for Hubei 2021 university graduates on December 2 in Wuhan, Hubei Province. Vice Minister of Education Weng Tiehui attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

Weng noted that the event was designed to ensure full and quality employment among Hubei-based graduates in line with President Xi Jinping’s instructions on giving the hardest-hit province “a helping hand” in its recovery from the fallout of COVID-19. She said the MOE would go on to implement seven major policy measures as a follow-up to this event. First, major provinces, cities and industries will be required to add job quotas for graduates from Hubei. Second, the “Employment and Entrepreneurship Policy Promotion Month for Graduates” will be held to communicate employment promotion policies issued by the central government and universities across the country. Third, employment guidance will be optimized, including holding the National Career Development and Education Month for University Students and “Internet + Career Guidance” themed live webcasts. Fourth, the existing employment service system will be upgraded, including launching the Smart Employment Platform for University Graduates, pooling job postings information from ministerial level down to universities. Fifth, targeted assistance will be provided to vulnerable groups to help build their employment and entrepreneurship capacity. Sixth, the “Internet+” innovation and entrepreneurship competition for university students will be held along with special entrepreneurship services for graduates. Seventh, an employment assistance and accountability system will be established to ensure that job facilitation units, staff, venues and funding are all in place to support full employment.

Concurrently with this forum, the MOE’s “23456 Campus Employment Service” organized a job fair both online and offline offering over 500,000 posts, and college-business employment matchmaking activities in Wuhan involving 10 HEIs and businesses. Heads of 210 HEIs and employment service centers from across the country, business leaders and student representatives attended these activities.
