Chen Baosheng calls on XPCC to push forward educational progress

On October 18, Education Minister Chen Baosheng went to Xinjiang to evaluate efforts made by the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC) in the field of education. He visited several middle schools where he was briefed on student moral education, education on national unity, COVID-19 prevention, IT applications in education and targeted poverty alleviation.

He also attended a meeting on seeking breakthroughs in XPCC-led education system. The meeting was hosted by Wang Junzheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) and Secretary of the Party Committee of the XPCC, and attended by Vice Minister of Education Sun Yao and Lu Xuping, Deputy Commander and Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the XPCC.

At the meeting, he heard presentations by XPCC leaders and representatives of several colleges and primary and secondary schools, and applauded XPCC’s significant contribution to Xinjang’s educational development. He also called for more efforts in six areas: 1) education on ethnic unity, which needs to be regarded as the core of moral education and the most important issue in quality assessment of XPCC-led education system; 2) Mandarin Chinese teaching and use; 3) enhancement of the awareness of the right political direction; 4) improvement of ties between vocational education and regional industries; 5) education informatization as a means to boost innovation in pedagogy and talent training; and 6) educational reform.

Chen also required more explorations to be made in the methods of facilitating: win-win cooperation between XUAR and other regions in China; industry-education integration; the use of embedded systems for better teacher-student interaction; coordination between XPCC and local government; and integration of online and offline instruction.

Wang extended gratitude to the MOE for its long-term consistent support to the XPCC and pledged that the XPCC would push education quality to a new level and intensify its efforts in training more patriotic and capable talent for the development of the XPCC itself and the whole country.
