President Xi calls for physical fitness enhancement in youth

On the morning of April 21, President Xi toured the Laoxian Township of Pingli County, Ankang city, Shaanxi Province.

President Xi visited the township’s central primary school Grade 5 classroom and asked pupils about their studies and everyday life. Xi said: “I am very worried to see so many of our small children already wearing glasses. Their physical fitness is also a concern, as they have little daily physical exercise. I believe that one needs to have a noble spirit and a ‘savage’ body. To have a ‘savage’ body, physical fitness is essential.”
