Zhangjiakou Vocational and Technical College is a full-time general higher education institution approved by the Ministry of Education to train high-end skilled professionals. Its predecessor is Zhangjiakou University. In 1997, it was renamed "Zhangjiakou Vocational and Technical College" with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It is the first in the country. One of the vocational colleges launched in batches. In 2001, Zhangjiakou Agricultural Machinery Engineering School, a national key technical secondary school, and Zhangjiakou Industrial Transportation School, a provincial and ministerial key technical secondary school in 2004, were merged into the college. In 2010, it was identified as a demonstration unit of higher vocational colleges in Hebei Province, and has been rated as a civilized unit of Hebei Province, a civilized campus, and a civilized unit of Zhangjiakou City for many times.
The college is located in the main urban area of Zhangjiakou, a beautiful city outside the Great Wall. The campus has fresh and elegant scenery and picturesque scenery. There are 2 national-level training bases, 1 provincial-level training base, and 2 higher vocational schools approved by the central government to promote professional service development capabilities. It has 9 on-campus training centers, 74 on-campus practice bases, and 75 off-campus training bases such as Lynk & Co. It has a national vocational skill appraisal institute, an authorized teaching base for China's automobile talent training project, and a special skill certification training and assessment base. It is the employment (startup) service base for college graduates in Hebei Province.
