Hebei Vocational and Technical College of Building Materials is the only higher vocational and technical college named after "Building Materials" approved by the People's Government of Hebei Province and filed by the Ministry of Education. The Academy of Educational Sciences and the National Collaborative Association of Higher Vocational and Technical Colleges were rated as "China's Top Ten Characteristic Higher Vocational Colleges". The predecessor of the college was the State Building Materials Administration Qinhuangdao Glass Industry Technical School established in 1978. In 1985, the Qinhuangdao Branch of the State Administration of Building Materials Management College was added. In 1998, it was transferred to Hebei and merged with Hebei Building Materials Industry School to form Hebei Building Materials Workers University. It was transformed into Hebei Vocational and Technical College of Building Materials in 2001, and was placed under the management of Hebei Provincial Department of Education at the end of the same year. The school-running level is mainly based on general higher vocational education, with vocational training as a new growth point, and joint distance online education as an extension.
College is located in Qinhuangdao City, one of the first 14 coastal open cities in the country, and is located in the Western University Park.
