Tangshan Vocational and Technical College is a comprehensive higher vocational college in Hebei Province and a national high-quality junior vocational college. The college currently has three campuses: Nanhu Campus, Xinhua Road Campus and Hancheng Campus, covering an area of nearly 700 acres and enrolling 13,700 students.
Tangshan Vocational College was approved by the provincial government in April 2001 by the merger of the original Tangshan City Health School, Tangshan City Agricultural School, Tangshan City Commercial School, and Tangshan City Finance and Trade Cadre School. It has a history of 69 years and has been rated as Hebei Province for many times. In 2010, it was identified as a key construction model higher vocational college in Hebei Province; in 2019, it was identified as a national high-quality junior vocational college, and it ranked among the "double high" construction in Hebei Province.
Tangshan Vocational College adheres to the school-running mission of "building morality, serving development, and promoting employment", and highlights the school-running characteristics of "integration of industry and education, school-enterprise cooperation, integration of work and learning, and integration of knowledge and action". Continuously strengthen professional construction, forming a professional construction layout with modern service industry as the main body (medicine and health as the focus), advanced equipment manufacturing industry and modern agriculture as the two wings. The four majors of landscape technology, accounting, nursing, and computer network technology are the backbone majors of the "Higher Vocational Education Innovation and Development Action Plan" recognized by the Ministry of Education. The establishment of a project for the construction of one applied technology research and development center for universities in Hebei Province. In the two rounds of innovative development action plans, a total of 32 projects were established and the school-running characteristics and advantages of the school were gradually demonstrated.
The college currently has 765 faculty members. Among them, there are 480 full-time teachers; 65 with senior professional titles, 252 with deputy senior titles, and 332 "double-qualified" teachers. In recent years, more than 50 high-level talents from key universities such as 985 and 211 have been introduced. Teachers have undertaken nearly 200 national, provincial, and municipal research projects, and have obtained more than 150 national, provincial, and municipal education and scientific research results, and many research results have reached the domestic leading level. Tangshan Vocational College takes the advantage of vocational education to actively serve local transformation and upgrading, and takes the lead in the formation of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Modern Agricultural Vocational Education Alliance and the Hebei Modern Agricultural Vocational Education Group, and jointly leads the establishment of the Hebei Provincial Health Vocational Education Group. The college actively innovated the school-enterprise cooperation model, and achieved new results in cross-industry and cross-regional cooperation. 265 solid off-campus training bases have been established. Close cooperation with the First Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital (formerly 301 Hospital), the Seventh Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital (formerly the Army General Hospital) and other key enterprises and institutions. In recent years, the employment rate of graduates has remained at around 98%.
Tangshan Vocational College comprehensively carried out innovation and entrepreneurship education, and promoted the implementation of innovation and entrepreneurship achievements. Pengyu Makerspace was recognized as a municipal-level Makerspace, and the student entrepreneurship project was selected as a typical case of undergraduate entrepreneurship in Hebei Province, and was awarded the star of undergraduate entrepreneurship in Hebei Province. Every year, students have repeatedly achieved good results in major competitions such as the national "Challenge Cup". In the past three years, teachers and students have participated in various skill competitions at all levels and have won more than 200 awards at or above the provincial level. Tangshan Vocational College actively carries out international exchanges around serving the country's "One Belt One Road" initiative. In-depth cooperation with educational institutions in Thailand, Hungary and other countries and regions in personnel training, cultural and academic exchanges, and overseas practical education.
Tangshan Vocational College and Hebei Medical University, Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Jilin University jointly run higher education for adults, offering 13 undergraduate and junior college majors. Possess multiple occupational skill appraisal qualifications. More than 15,000 person-times of continuing education, non-academic education, community education and vocational skills appraisal examination services are carried out every year. Together with the Tangshan Military Sub-district, it established the first reserve base for professional and technical troops in North China.
