Handan Vocational and Technical College was founded in June 1983, formerly known as "Handan Vocational University". Hu Yaobang, then General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, inscribed the school's name. In 1997, it was renamed "Handan Vocational and Technical College". The college has been identified as a pilot school for 15 demonstrative vocational colleges across the country, a national demonstrative vocational and technical college key support construction college, an excellent college for the evaluation of the national talent training work level, a national backbone vocational college, and a national high-quality college construction project Unit. The college covers an area of 550,000 square meters, with a building area of more than 300,000 square meters, and more than 15,000 full-time students. There are 12 teaching departments and 53 enrollment majors. The college library is the UNESCO collection point.
The college currently has more than 500 teachers, including nearly 200 professors, associate professors and other senior professional titles; 78% of professional teachers have double quality; 72% of young and middle-aged teachers have a master's degree or a postgraduate degree or above. History
The school was established in June 1983 and its name was "Handan Vocational University".
In 1984, Hu Yaobang, then General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, inscribed the name of the school.
In 1985, he joined the China Vocational University Education Research Association and was elected as one of the 24 governing schools. In September, the first vocational education seminar in Hebei Province was organized.
In 1987, participated in the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Educational Innovation and Development Service Program Contact Center (referred to as apeid Contact Center) and became the only vocational university among the 15 apeid contact center members in the country.
In 1991, the school merged with Handan TV University branch.
In 1996, it was identified as the first batch of pilot schools for demonstration vocational colleges launched by Hebei Provincial Education Commission. In the same year, it was identified as the first batch of pilot schools for demonstration vocational colleges launched by the State Education Commission.
In 1997, it was renamed "Handan Vocational and Technical College" with the approval of the State Education Commission. In the same year, the college was selected as the standing director unit of the China Higher Vocational Education Research Association.

In 2007, the college was identified as a provincial demonstration vocational and technical college.
In 2008, he became the director unit of the Employment Committee of the China Higher Vocational Education Research Association.
In 2010, it was designated by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as the backbone of the National Model Higher Vocational College Construction Plan.

National high-quality college construction
In April 2016, after our college was identified as a national high-quality college construction project unit by the Provincial Department of Education, the party committee of the college attached great importance to it, carefully planned, and used the power of the entire college to strive to create a national high-quality junior vocational college. An Innovation and Development Action Committee with the Secretary of the Party Committee as the team leader and the Dean as the deputy team leader was established. On the basis of the key projects determined by the provincial government, the college has carried out a series of independent project construction in combination with the actual situation of the college and self-pressurized.
