North China Electric Power University Baoding Campus

North China Electric Power University is a key construction university of the national "211 Project" directly under the Ministry of Education and a key construction university of the national "985 Project Advantage Discipline Platform". The school’s headquarter is located in Beijing, with a Baoding campus. The school has more than 3,000 faculty members, more than 20,000 full-time undergraduates and 10,000 postgraduates. The school occupies an area of more than 1,600 acres, with a construction area of more than 1 million square meters.


   School was founded in Beijing in 1958 and was originally named Beijing Electric Power University. In 1969, it moved from Beijing to Hebei and successively changed its names to Hebei Electric Power University and North China Electric Power University. In 1995, North China Electric Power University merged with Beijing Power Economics University (including the Beijing Graduate School of North China Electric Power University) to form North China Electric Power University. In 2003, in the reform of the national power system, the school was transferred from the State Power Company to the Ministry of Education. At the same time, the school was established by the State Grid Corporation of China, China Southern Power Grid Corporation, China Huaneng Group Corporation, China Datang Corporation, China Huadian Corporation, and China Huadian Corporation. The board of directors composed of China Guodian Corporation and China Power Investment Corporation and the Ministry of Education jointly established North China Electric Power University. In 2013, the board of directors of North China Electric Power University was renewed. The members of the board of directors include seven central electric power enterprises and nine units including the China Electricity Council and North China Electric Power University.


   For more than half a century, the school has carried the historical mission of cultivating high-quality talents and advancing scientific and technological progress for the national energy and power industry. After entering the new century, the school has implemented the policy of "establishing a school with disciplines, strengthening the school with talents, rejuvenating the school with scientific research, and developing with characteristics", seizing opportunities, accelerating development, and achieving rapid development by leaps and bounds.


The school has School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, School of Energy Power and Mechanical Engineering, School of Control and Computer Engineering, School of Economics and Management, School of Environmental Science and Engineering, School of Renewable Energy, School of Nuclear Science and Engineering, School of Mathematics and Physics, Humanities and Society Ten colleges including the School of Science and the School of Foreign Languages have 57 undergraduate majors. The school has 2 national key disciplines, "Power System and Automation" and "Thermal Energy Engineering", and 25 provincial and ministerial key disciplines. The discipline of "Engineering" has entered the ranks of 1% of the ESI world; the school has 5 post-doctoral research mobile stations, There are 5 first-level disciplines, 30 second-level disciplines for doctoral degree authorization, 23 first-level disciplines, and 123 second-level disciplines for master's degree authorization. There are 1822 full-time teachers, including 2 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 5 double-employed academicians, 7 national "Thousand Talents Program", 2 national "Thousand Talents Program for Youth" and 2 "National High-level Talent Special Support Program" , 5 "973" chief scientists, 1 national-level teaching teacher, 7 winners of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, 6 "Yangtze River Scholars", 8 national "Hundred, Thousand, Thousand, Thousand Talents Project", and 40 were selected by the Ministry of Education. The school currently has 6 national-level quality open courses, 2 national-level teaching teams, 11 national-level characteristic majors, 3 national-level experimental teaching demonstration centers, 3 national-level engineering practice education centers, and 3 national-level virtual simulation experiments Teaching center, the school passed the evaluation of the undergraduate teaching level of the Ministry of Education with "excellent" results.
