Hebei Normal University

Hebei Normal University is a provincial key university jointly established by the People's Government of Hebei Province and the Ministry of Education. The school originated from Shuntianfu School in Beijing in 1902 and Beiyang Women's Normal School in Tianjin in 1906. It has 116 years of development history and glorious school-running tradition. In June 1996, the former Hebei Normal University and Hebei Normal University merged with Hebei Institute of Education, founded in 1952, and Hebei Vocational and Technical Teachers College, founded in 1984, to form the new Hebei Normal University. Among the alumni are the old generation of revolutionaries Deng Yingchao, Liu Qingyang, Guo Longzhen, Yang Xiufeng, Kang Shien, Rong Gaotang, etc., academic celebrities Liang Shuming, Zhang Shenfu, Tang Yongtong, etc., and academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Yan Luguang, Hao Bolin, Li Shushen, He Hong, etc. Xu Shaofa, Cai Zhenhua and other elites in sports. Since the founding of New China, the school has trained more than 260,000 professional talents for the country.


   The school moved to the new campus as a whole in 2011. The new campus covers an area of 1829 acres, with a collection of 3.03 million books and 67 databases in Chinese and foreign languages. The school currently has 2,634 in-service faculty members, including 1,578 full-time teachers. Among the in-service faculty, there are 430 full-time and senior-level staff, 931 associate-high-level staff, 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 3 "Thousand Talents Program", 203 outstanding experts at or above the provincial level, and 124 doctoral supervisors. There are 768 master tutors. There are 23,101 undergraduates, 4,638 postgraduates, and 8,418 adult education students.


   The school now has 21 professional colleges and 1 independent college (Huihua College). There are 11 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degree, 1 professional doctoral degree authorization point; 29 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degree, 14 professional master degree authorization points; 95 undergraduate majors. The disciplines cover ten disciplines including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, and art. There are 1 national key discipline, 9 post-doctoral research mobile stations, 7 "double first-class" construction disciplines in Hebei Province, 1 national key discipline cultivation project of provincial universities, 4 strong characteristic disciplines of provincial universities, and 14 key disciplines of provincial universities There are 1 key laboratory of the Ministry of Education, 1 key research base of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, and 8 provincial key laboratories. Chemistry, botany and zoology have entered the top 1% of ESI world rankings.    The school continues to deepen the reform of education and teaching, and the quality of teaching continues to improve.    Focusing on the credit system, on-the-job internship support, and large-scale enrollment and training, we promote three fundamental changes in undergraduate teaching: the continuous improvement of the credit system reform to meet the needs of students for self-design and independent development. Constructed a complete teacher education system that integrates basic education, vocational education and higher education teacher training with the "three teachings simultaneously" and the integration of training and training. The internship support project has been carried out in depth to effectively serve the development of basic education in rural areas. Vice Premier Liu Yandong of the State Council has twice issued instructions to promote this work; in June 2013, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council came to the school to inspect the work, and the school was trained at the grassroots level. The practice and life choices of students willing to work at the grassroots level were highly praised. Implemented major enrollment and training reforms and strengthened general education.   Scientific research continues to make new progress. Undertook a number of national "973" and "863" plans, international cooperation projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, major bidding projects of the National Social Science Fund, major commissioned projects of Marxist theoretical research and construction projects, and compilation of the national history of Qing Dynasty Major projects of engineering and other scientific research projects with greater impact. The research team of Academician Sun Daye won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award, filling the gap in Hebei Province; the doctoral dissertation under the guidance of Professor Chunlan Jiang entered the ranks of the "National Hundred Excellent Blogs". Humanities and social science research achievements were awarded the Ministry of Education's Scientific Research Outstanding Achievement Award, National Dictionary Award, Lu Xun Literature Award, etc. Published many high-level academic papers in domestic and foreign authoritative academic journals such as Science, Nature, and Chinese Social Sciences.


   Give full play to the advantages of disciplines and promote collaborative innovation. Three collaborative innovation centers of Hebei Province have been established: "Cell Signaling and Environmental Adaptation", "Digital Education", and "Yanzhao Academic Research Center"; the "Great Wall Cultural Security Research Center" has been selected as one of the first batch of new think tanks in Hebei Province; Hebei Province Mathematics has been established Research Center, Mobile Internet of Things Research Institute, Nihewan Archaeology Research Institute, Jifu Science Research Center, County History and Culture Research Center, Public Policy Evaluation Center, AR Key Laboratory, Yan Liang Xuezhi Center, Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture Inheritance and Development Research Center , Eco-Environmental Research Center and other innovation platforms, the ability to serve economic construction and social development has been significantly enhanced.


   The school conducts extensive international cooperation and exchanges. It has established formal cooperative relations with 85 universities and educational institutions in 23 countries, and has developed exchanges with more than 200 foreign universities in terms of cooperation in running schools, teacher exchanges, student exchanges, online courses, scientific research cooperation and international talent introduction. The level of internationalization has gradually improved. The school is the recipient of "Chinese Government Scholarships" and "Confucius Institute Scholarships" for foreign students. Each year, there are more than 600 long-term and short-term self-financed language and academic degree international students from Russia, the United States, Italy, Korea, Indonesia, Pakistan and other countries. 3 Confucius Institutes and 1 Confucius Classroom have been built, a Portuguese-Chinese bilingual high school has been jointly built, and volunteer Chinese teachers have been selected to 25 countries to actively participate in the international promotion of Chinese. The Peru Research Center, the Indonesian Research Center, and the Sino-Russian Far East Research Center have been established to focus on building a regional research platform.


   The school’s party committee adheres to the idea of “focusing on party building around the central work and doing a good job of party building to promote the central work”, and continuously strengthens party building and ideological and political work with the spirit of reform and innovation, providing a strong political, ideological and organizational guarantee for the development of the school.
