Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is a national key university with a core discipline of Chinese medicine. Beijing University of Chinese Medicine was founded in 1956, formerly known as Beijing College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and was the earliest higher school of Chinese medicine approved by the State Council. At the beginning of the establishment of the school, the school became the first higher TCM college in New China to accept foreign students to study TCM. So far, it has trained more than 20,000 TCM professionals in 94 countries and regions, and has cooperated with 31 countries and regions. 118 well-known universities and research institutions in the region have established cooperative relations. In 1996, it cooperated with Middlesex University in the United Kingdom to establish my country's first independent medical bachelor degree program in a foreign university. It is the first to offer undergraduate education in Chinese medicine among the top 50 universities in the world, and cooperates with Nanyang Technological University in Singapore to offer a double bachelor's degree education in Chinese Medicine and Biology. Cooperated with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona in Spain to set up the first master's degree program in Chinese Medicine recognized by the European Union. my country's first doctoral degree program and master's degree program taught by Western doctors in Chinese medicine taught in English, and the first bachelor's degree program in Chinese medicine taught in English. In 2019, we will cooperate with the National Children's Hospital of the United States to build a pediatric clinic with integrated Chinese and Western medicine in the United States, and continue to promote the integration and development of traditional medicine and modern medicine.


In 1991, the school established the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Kristin Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Germany, setting a precedent for Chinese universities to set up special Chinese medicine hospitals overseas and becoming a model of Chinese medicine going global. In 2012, the Confucius Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine was established in cooperation with the Japanese school legal person Hyogo Medical University, which incorporated the courses of Chinese medicine into the modern medical education system, and realized the organic integration of cultural exchanges and professional education. The Australian Chinese Medicine Center of the University of Medicine, the Russian Chinese Medicine Center, the American Chinese Medicine Center, and the China-German Chinese Medicine Center (Kristin) have made Chinese medicine a beautiful business card for cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries and people-to-people bonds. The Russian Traditional Chinese Medicine Center successfully obtained the qualifications of the Russian Federation as a medical institution and became the first specialized Chinese medicine hospital in Russia to be included in the national medical insurance system. The Australian Centre of Traditional Chinese Medicine actively promotes the education of Chinese medical qualifications for western doctors, and two masters of Chinese medicine students have successfully graduated. Aiming at the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine and the frontiers of medicine, the Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine in the United States has successfully held many high-end academic conferences on cancer, epilepsy, pediatric diseases, reproductive diseases, etc., and is becoming an important platform for academic exchanges and dialogues between China and the United States in the medical field.


The school sponsors national academic journals "Journal of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine", "Modern Chinese Medicine Clinic", "Chinese Medicine Education" and "Journal of Chinese Medicine Science" (English), which are important fields for academic exchanges in Chinese medicine, including "Journal of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine" Won the title of "One Hundred Chinese Outstanding Academic Journals" for 5 consecutive times.
