China University of Political Science and Law is a key construction university of the "211 Project" with the characteristics and advantages of law, as well as literature, history, philosophy, economics, management, education, science, engineering and other disciplines. The advantage of the "985 Project" "Disciplinary Innovation Platform", "2011 Plan" and "111 Plan" (University Disciplinary Innovation and Talent Introduction Program) focus on the construction of universities, the national "double first-class" construction universities, directly under the Ministry of Education, and are committed to building world-class universities and first-class disciplines . There are two campuses, Xueyuan Road, Haidian District and Fuxue Road, Changping District.


The predecessor of    was the Beijing School of Political Science and Law, which was composed of the four disciplines of Peking University, Tsinghua University, Yenching University, and Fu Jen Catholic University in 1952. Comrade Mao Zedong wrote the name of the school. In 1954, the school moved to Xueyuan Road. In 1960, it became a national key university designated by the state. The cultural revolution middle school was closed and resumed in 1978. In 1983, the Beijing University of Political Science and Law merged with the Central Political and Law Cadre School to form the China University of Political Science and Law. Comrade Deng Xiaoping wrote the name of the school. The school has formed a structure of one school and three colleges for undergraduate, graduate, and advanced students. In 1985, the school opened the Changping campus. The postgraduate college was renamed as the Central Political and Law Management Cadre Institute to run a separate school. In 2000, it was merged into the China University of Political Science and Law.


   The school has trained more than 200,000 outstanding talents for the country in the course of more than 60 years. The school is the main force in the training of national legal education and rule of law talents. It has participated in almost all national legislative activities since the establishment of the school. It leads the innovation of national legal education, the innovation of legal theory and the update of legal thinking, and represents the country’s external legal studies. Academic and legal cultural exchanges. At the same time, the school's multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary talent training model has also delivered a large number of high-level humanities and social sciences professionals to the society, and has become a new force in the training of talents in the national political, economic, social, cultural and other fields.


The school currently has 16,736 students, including 9,319 undergraduates, 6612 postgraduates, and 805 international students; 968 teachers, 307 professors among teaching and research post teachers, 201 doctoral supervisors, and 613 master supervisors. The proportion of master's degree is 89.25%.

Among them, the Judicial Civilization Collaborative Innovation Center led by the China University of Political Science and Law is one of the first 14 national “2011 Plan” collaborative innovation centers recognized by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance. The “Innovation Center” became one of the second batch of 24 national “2011 Plan” collaborative innovation centers to be recognized, and the “Marxism and Comprehensive Rule of Law Collaborative Innovation Center” led by the school was approved for collaborative innovation in the theoretical research of socialism with Chinese characteristics in Beijing universities One of the centers.

The school has successively established cooperative and exchange relations with 235 well-known universities, scientific research institutions and international organizations in 50 countries and regions. Each year, more than 1,000 teachers and students are sent to overseas exchanges through various cooperation and exchange projects, and more than 300 long-term and short-term Foreign experts come to the school to give lectures. The China-EU School of Law of the China University of Political Science and Law established in 2008 is the largest cooperation project between the Chinese government and the EU in the field of legal education.
