North China Electric Power University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, and a key construction university of the national "211 Project" and "985 Project Advantage Discipline Platform". School was founded in Beijing in 1958 and was originally named Beijing Electric Power University. The school has long been under the management of the national power department. In 2003, the school was transferred to the Ministry of Education and managed by the State Grid Corporation of China, China Southern Power Grid Corporation, China Huaneng Group Corporation, China Datang Corporation, China Huadian Corporation, China Guodian Corporation, and China Power Investment Corporation. The council formed by electric power central enterprises was jointly established with the Ministry of Education.
