Beijing Electronic Science and Technology Institute is an ordinary college of higher learning that trains information security and office automation professionals for party and government agencies at all levels across the country. The college is affiliated to the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
The predecessor of College was the Central Working Committee’s Youth Cadre Training Course opened in Xibaipo, Pingshan County, Hebei Province in August 1947, directly managed by the Central Working Committee. Over the past 70 years, it has successively experienced the development period of Zhangjiakou Military Commission Engineering School, Beijing Electronic College, and Beijing Electronic Science and Technology Institute. The college is located at No. 7, Fufeng Road, Fengtai District, Beijing, and currently has more than 2,000 full-time students.
Since the establishment of the school, the college has always received cordial care and high attention from the leaders of the Party Central Committee and the Central Office. Comrades Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao, and Xi Jinping successively wrote inscriptions of encouragement, and Comrade Jiang Zemin also inscribed the name of the college. Qiao Shi, Wen Jiabao, Zeng Qinghong, Wang Gang, Li Zhanshu and other central leaders gave many important instructions for the development and construction of the college and visited the college many times to inspect the work.
The college has developed to this day, and it has become a teaching-oriented general higher education school with a focus on work and a coordinated development of science, work and management. There are 4 departments and 2 teaching departments: Department of Cryptography and Technology, Department of Cyberspace Security, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Department of Management, Department of Ideological and Political Theory Teaching and Research, and Department of Humanities and Social Sciences Teaching and Research. There are 8 undergraduate majors.
The college has 1 academic master degree authorization point for the first-level discipline of cyberspace security, and 1 professional degree master authorization point for electronic information (including the fields of electronic and communication engineering and computer technology); it has the joint training of cryptography with Xidian University Information and communication engineering, computer application technology academic master's degree; has a joint training with the University of Science and Technology of China and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications to cultivate a first-level academic doctoral degree in cyberspace security.
The college actively implements the strategy of “strengthening the school with talents” and has strong teaching and scientific research capabilities. More than 55% of full-time teachers have senior titles, and more than 85% have master's and doctoral degrees. More than 20 teachers enjoy the special government allowances of the State Council, and many teachers have won the titles of "Beijing Famous Teachers", "Beijing Outstanding Teachers" and "Beijing Young Key Teachers".
The college has sent a large number of high-quality talents to the party and the country. Among the alumni of the college, a group of work pacesetters and advanced models from all walks of life have emerged. More than 50 people have held leadership positions at the provincial, ministerial, military, and national bureau levels, and more than 400 have held leadership positions at the national ministries and commissions and provincial departments.
