The school originated from the Jingshi Elementary Industrial School established by the Qing government in 1907. In 1933, it was renamed Beiping Municipal Higher Vocational School. In 1936, the civil engineering department was added. After that, it passed the Beijing Municipal Industrial School, Beijing College of Architecture, and Beijing Civil Engineering. There are two campuses in Xicheng and Daxing. The Xicheng campus covers an area of 123,000 square meters, and the Daxing campus covers an area of 501,000 square meters; the total school building area is 488,000 square meters.
