China Institute of Labor Relations

The China Institute of Labor Relations is the only public general higher education school directly under the All-China Federation of Trade Unions. It is jointly established by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and the Ministry of Education.


The predecessor of    was the All-China Federation of Trade Unions Cadre School founded in 1949. In 2003, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as a general undergraduate college and was renamed the China Institute of Labor Relations. The school has a history of more than 60 years. It is a multidisciplinary, teaching and application-oriented university, covering six disciplines including economics, law, literature, engineering, management, and art.


The school has labor union college, labor relations department, economic management department, law school, public administration department, safety engineering department, cultural communication school, mathematics and computer teaching department, foreign language teaching department, ideological and political theory teaching department, physical education teaching department, and higher education Vocational and technical colleges, trade union cadre training colleges and continuing education colleges and other teaching units.


The school's undergraduate majors include labor relations, law (labor law and social security law), social work, labor and social security, safety engineering, administrative management (enterprise administrative culture construction), human resource management, economics, and financial management , Business Administration, Administration, Political Science and Administration, Chinese Language and Literature, Journalism, Drama, Film and Television Literature, Hotel Management and other majors. The school follows the professional "characteristic development", combining key support and competitive development to build labor relations and law , Public management, safety engineering, business administration, cultural communication and other professional groups. In December 2012, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council formally approved our school to launch a pilot program for cultivating postgraduates with a master's degree. The authorized professional degree category is the Master of Public Administration (MPA), and it will officially enroll students in 2013. Our master's degree in public management has four research fields: labor relations, trade union work, labor and social security, and public safety management. In 2018, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the school began to recruit graduate students with a master's degree in public administration (in the field of labor relations) in Hong Kong.


   Higher vocational (specialist) majors include hotel management, tourism management, tourism English and other majors. The school optimizes the configuration according to the characteristics of professional disciplines, industry needs and resource allocation, with distinctive professional characteristics.


   As of January 2018, the school has a total of 6,562 full-time students, including 132 postgraduates, 4722 undergraduates, and 1708 junior college students.


The school has 478 faculty members, including 295 full-time teachers, 131 full-time professors and associate professors, 12 experts enjoying special government allowances, 1 national outstanding teacher, 5 famous teaching teachers in Beijing, and outstanding teachers in Beijing 5 people. According to teaching needs, well-known scholars from other ordinary universities and senior managers from government agencies and large and medium-sized enterprises are hired as part-time teachers throughout the year.


Since the establishment of the school, the school has actively explored and grasped the law of general higher education development, focused on the construction of characteristic disciplines, emphasized the quality management of education and teaching, focused on the construction of systems and mechanisms, and worked hard to cultivate the needs of labor relations and trade unions for economic and social development. High-quality application-oriented professionals with excellent quality, deep labor sentiment, solid theoretical foundation, and outstanding practical ability.


   The school attaches great importance to foreign exchanges and cooperation, and makes full use of its own characteristics and industry characteristics to carry out academic exchanges and talent training with domestic and foreign teaching and research institutions. The school has successively carried out educational cooperation and academic exchange activities with colleges and universities, scientific research institutions and the International Labor Organization in nearly 20 countries including the United States, Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom, as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. In January 2017, the school and Hebei University signed a cooperation framework agreement to start joint training of master's students; in September 2017, the school and Renmin University of China signed the "Comprehensive Cooperation Framework Agreement", and the level of foreign cooperation and exchange has entered a new stage. In May 2018, the school and Binghamton University in the United States launched a "3.5+1.5" joint talent training project for undergraduate students majoring in safety engineering. The project will start student application in the second half of 2018 and is planned to be in the spring of 2019 During the semester, outstanding students are sent to the United States to study the courses in the project.


   The school has distinctive characteristics. It is the university with the most complete and complete disciplines in the field of labor relations and trade unions. It is the only university in the country that insists on holding undergraduate education on model workers and the highest institution for training trade union cadres. The school has academic research platforms such as the National Association of Trade Union Studies, the Research Association of Chinese Workers’ History and Status Quo, the China Trade Union • Labor Relations Forum, and 23 research institutions such as the Institute of Artisans and Model Workers in the Great Powers. , Labor law, labor economics, occupational safety and health, and other academic research in the domestic leading level.


   As the only university in the country that insists on holding undergraduate model workers education, the school has provided more than 600 Republican model workers and "big country craftsmen" with further study opportunities and growth space. The undergraduate model worker education has gone through 26 years. Many model workers joined the ranks of union cadres after graduation. While doing a good job of undergraduate education for model workers, the school actively builds a distinctive campus culture based on the characteristics of the industry and the reality of the school, and cultivates a deep sense of work for teachers and students. Efforts will be made to give full play to the advantages of "Model Workers and Craftsmen of Great Powers on Campus", labor relations and a relatively complete discipline system in the field of labor unions.
