Wenzhou Medical University is a provincial general institution of higher learning in Zhejiang Province. The school can be traced back to the Zhejiang Medical College, founded in 1912, and was established in August 1958 by Zhejiang Medical College from Hangzhou to Wenzhou. It was originally named "Zhejiang Second Medical College" and later named "Wenzhou Medical College" after the location of the school.
