Zhejiang Sci-Tech University

The school has a long history of running a school. Zhejiang Sci-Tech University is located in Hangzhou, a famous historical and cultural city, covering an area of more than 2,100 acres. The predecessor of the school, Sericulture Museum, was founded in 1897 by the prefect of Hangzhou, Lin Qi, to realize the ambition of saving the country through industry and education. In 1908, due to the outstanding achievements in running the school, it was upgraded to the "High Sericulture School" by the Qing government. From the Revolution of 1911 to the eve of liberation, due to the turmoil of the current situation, the school changed its name several times and moved to the school site several times. After the founding of New China, the school continued to forge ahead and opened a new chapter in history. The school began to enroll undergraduates in 1959. In 1964, it was named Zhejiang Silk Institute of Technology by the State Council. In 1979, it began to enroll postgraduates and was granted the right to confer a master's degree in 1983. In 1999, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed Zhejiang Institute of Technology. In 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. In 2006, he was granted the right to confer a doctoral degree. In 2010, approved by the Ministry of Education, he was qualified to recommend excellent undergraduate graduates to study for a master's degree without examination. In 2017, the school was selected as a key construction university in Zhejiang Province.


   Today's Zhejiang Sci-Tech University is a provincial key construction university with a focus on work, distinctive features, outstanding advantages, and coordinated development of science, engineering, literature, economics, management, law, art, and education. The school has 17 colleges (teaching and research departments) and an independent college. There are currently more than 27,000 full-time students, including more than 3,800 graduate students.    The school adheres to open education and has established cooperative relations with more than 100 educational and scientific research institutions in nearly 30 countries and regions. It has established two Confucius Institutes with the University of Mauritius and the University of Suriname. The education of international students has developed rapidly.
