Zhejiang Automobile Vocational and Technical College was developed from the first private Zhejiang Economic Management College founded by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group in 1997. It is now jointly run by the Linhai Municipal People’s Government and Geely Holding Group. It is a full-time private general higher vocational college school.
The school adheres to the school-running purpose of "walking into the campus is to better enter the society", following the school motto of "Germany and technology, continuous self-improvement", based on the automotive industry, serving the regional economic development of Zhejiang and Taizhou, focusing on the construction of automobiles, electronics, and machinery. Manufacturing and commerce circulation service majors cultivate high-quality technical and technical professionals on the front line of production, construction, management, and service. The school has 7 teaching departments, including the Department of Automobile Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Electronic Engineering, Department of Economics and Trade, Training Center, Adult Education College, and Entrepreneurship College. 18 majors in 5 major categories, including electronic information, finance and commerce, and news communication. Among them, automobile inspection and maintenance technology is the "13th Five-Year" advantageous professional construction project of Zhejiang colleges and universities, and automobile manufacturing and assembly technology, automobile electronic technology, and automobile marketing and service are the "13th Five-Year" characteristic professional construction projects of Zhejiang colleges and universities.
Relying on Geely and its subsidiaries, the school vigorously develops the integration of production and education, and school-enterprise cooperation. It has established an industrial robot training center, an automobile manufacturing process training center, an automobile training center, a machining training center, an electrical and electronic training center, and digitalization. There are six training centers including the training center. The training base has advanced equipment, sufficient workstations and complete functions. The Automobile Training Center is a demonstration training base for higher vocational colleges in Zhejiang Province, and has been confirmed by the Ministry of Education as a vocational education training base supported by the central government. The school’s National Vocational Skills Appraisal Institute can carry out multi-level, multi-occupation (work) appraisal such as fitter, maintenance electrician, auto mechanic, CNC turner, etc.; 2019 auto mechanics have obtained the first-level assessment and appraisal level and passed the municipal five-star evaluation.
Backed by Geely's industrial advantages, the school adheres to the integration of production and education, school-enterprise cooperation, integration of work and learning, and the integration of knowledge and action in personnel training, and has cultivated a large number of talents for related companies in the automotive industry chain. The school hires many senior experts, middle and senior engineers and management cadres from Geely Automobile Research Institute and Geely’s production bases as part-time teachers of the school, makes full use of school-enterprise educational resources, and integrates the school’s teaching process with the enterprise’s job standards. The production process of the company is connected, and the school-enterprise dual education mode is implemented to "cultivating talent forests" for the development of enterprises. The first employment of school graduates has reached more than 98% for five consecutive years, and the employment rate of 2017 graduates after one year has reached 99.15%, ranking first in the province's higher vocational colleges.
The School of Adult Education of the school actively establishes contacts with many domestic colleges and universities, continuously expands exchanges and cooperation, and builds "overpasses" for students to further their studies. Currently, there are many ways to advance to undergraduate or second majors, such as correspondence education, distance education, and self-study assistance. There are many well-known universities such as China Agricultural University, Zhejiang University of Technology, Zhejiang Gongshang University, Ningbo Institute of Technology, etc., majoring in automobile, machinery, management, marketing and other major disciplines, with a total of nearly 10,000 graduates.
