West Lake University

West Lake University is a new type of institution of higher learning organized by social forces and supported by the state. Its predecessor was Zhejiang West Lake Institute for Advanced Study. It was initiated and founded by Shi Yigong, Chen Shiyi, Pan Jianwei, Rao Yi, Qian Yingyi, etc., in February 2018 It was formally approved by the Ministry of Education for its establishment on the 14th. The organizer was Hangzhou West Lake Education Foundation, and the first president was Professor Shi Yigong.

The school is committed to gathering first-class teachers, building first-class disciplines, cultivating first-class talents, and producing first-class results in accordance with the orientation of "high starting point, small but sophisticated, research-oriented", and strives to make outstanding contributions to the national strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education and innovation-driven development.
