Zhejiang Dongfang Vocational and Technical College was founded in 2000 by Teng Zengshou, a national model worker and one of the top ten reformers. It was approved by the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government to prepare for its establishment and was formally raised in 2002. In 2012, the school was restructured, directly under the Wenzhou Municipal People's Government, and under the management of Wenzhou Modern Service Industry Development Group Co., Ltd. The predecessor can be traced back to Wenzhou Dongfang Vocational School and Zhejiang Dongfang Group Technical School founded in 1994 by Zhejiang Dongfang Group.
