Hangzhou Vocational and Technical College of Science and Technology is a general higher vocational college sponsored by the Hangzhou Municipal People's Government. Relying on Hangzhou Adult University of Science and Technology, the school began preparations in December 1999. In December 2006, the Hangzhou Municipal People's Government decided that Hangzhou Radio and Television University would be the main body and jointly prepare for the establishment with Hangzhou Adult University of Science and Technology. In April 2009, it was approved by the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government and officially established by the Ministry of Education. In the process of running the school, Hangzhou Urban Construction School, Hangzhou Radio and Television Secondary Professional School, and Zhejiang Xianghu Normal School founded by Mr. Tao Xingzhi in 1928 were successively incorporated into Hangzhou Radio and Television University, founded in 1916. Known as the "Cradle of Gardeners in Western Zhejiang Mountain", Zhejiang Yanzhou Normal School was established in 2009 and merged into Hangzhou Vocational and Technical College of Science and Technology. It is an important school-running source that can be traced back to the school. The school and Hangzhou Radio and Television University implement a "two brands, one team" management system.
Development goals The first party congress of the school established that the overall goal of school development is "two steps, creating a first-class": the "first step" is to achieve the establishment of the "13th Five-Year Plan" after five years of hard work. Based on the development goals of the school, by the 15th anniversary of the establishment (2024), the school's comprehensive school-running strength will reach the first-class level of similar institutions in the country. School scale The school currently has more than 10,000 full-time students and more than 16,000 enrolled in adult education. The school has about 800 faculty members, including 522 faculty members, 166 associate professors or above, and 308 full-time teachers. School conditions By the end of 2019, the school’s Gaoqiao, Chengcheng, and Yanzhou campuses and the public skills training base in Qiantang New District have a total area of about 958 acres and a total construction area of about 440,000 square meters. The school's nearly 1,000 acres of campus has formed a spatial layout of "development along the river" on the "three rivers and two banks" of Xin'an River, Fuchun River, and Qiantang River. Among them, the main campus of Gaoqiao, located in the Fuyang Higher Education Complex in Hangzhou, covers an area of nearly 800 acres and has a building area of about 340,000 square meters.
