The School of Information Engineering of Hangzhou Dianzi University is the first batch of independent colleges organized by Hangzhou Dianzi University in 1999, approved by the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, and confirmed by the Ministry of Education in 2004. The college is located by the beautiful Qingshan Lake in Lin'an District, Hangzhou. The first phase of the college covers an area of 500 acres and the second phase covers an area of 200 acres.

The college enrolls students from 15 provinces, cities, and districts. There are more than 8,200 full-time undergraduate students. Students who have completed the credits specified in the teaching plan within the school’s prescribed length of study will be awarded Hangzhou if they meet the graduation requirements in moral, intellectual, and physical.
