Renji College of Wenzhou Medical University was established in August 1999. It was established with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Provincial People's Government. It is a full-time provincial undergraduate independent university established in accordance with the new school model and operating mechanism. It has become one of the important bases for the training of medical talents in Zhejiang Province, as well as the vice-chairman unit of similar independent colleges across the country and the vice-chairman unit of the Medical College Committee of the Independent College of China. In 2015, it became the first batch of pilot universities in Zhejiang Province to strengthen applied undergraduate programs.

Relying on the strong educational advantages of Wenzhou Medical University for more than 100 years, the college has set up majors according to the needs of economic and social development. It has 24 undergraduate majors in 6 disciplines including medicine, science, engineering, management, literature, and law, including 1 provincial key discipline.
