The Oriental College of Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics is an applied undergraduate college with economics and management as the main subject, and the coordinated development of economics, management, literature, art, law, science, and engineering. It was approved by the Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government in 1999 and 2004 A full-time undergraduate independent college confirmed by the Ministry of Education in the year. In September 2010, it moved from Hangzhou Wenhua Campus to Chang'an New Campus, Lianhang Economic Development Zone, Haining City, Zhejiang Province. The college was rated as an advanced unit in the research and practice of entrepreneurship education in colleges and universities in 2014. In December 2015, it was approved as one of the first batch of ten pilot and demonstration undergraduate universities in Zhejiang Province for application-oriented construction. In December 2016, it was elected as an application-oriented university in Zhejiang Province. The vice chairman unit of the alliance passed the inspection of the provincial inspection and acceptance expert group through the independent college standard in December 2017, and successfully completed the college teaching tour diagnostic inspection of the Provincial Department of Education.
The college is located in Haining, a famous historical and cultural city and the modern capital of leather clothing. It covers an area of nearly 1,000 acres and has a building area of 300,000 square meters. The college has convenient transportation, close to the Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway and Hangzhou-Pu Expressway. The planned Hangzhou-Haizhou intercity railway is directly connected to the entrance of the college. It is more than 10 kilometers away from the Xiasha campus of Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics and Linping, Hangzhou. The college has complete teaching facilities, excellent living facilities, and an elegant campus environment. It is one of the "Top Ten Most Beautiful Campuses in Zhejiang Province".
The college currently has 10 secondary branches and 1 physical education center, namely, Finance and Economics, Finance and Taxation, Business Administration, Accounting, Information, Law and Politics, Cultural Communication and Design, Foreign Languages, Entrepreneurship, Adult Education Branch hospital and sports center. The major setting is closely integrated with the needs of Zhejiang’s economic and social development, and efforts have been made to build an undergraduate training system that "designs majors according to social needs, lays a foundation according to general education requirements, and sets directions according to post needs, so that students can be transferred horizontally and can be promoted vertically". There are 33 undergraduate majors, mainly for the modern service industry, cultural and creative industries and public administration. There are nearly 10,000 full-time undergraduate students.

Graduates are widely praised by employers, and the employment rate has been around 97% in the past three years, ranking among the top universities in the province. In order to improve the effect of practical teaching and ensure the quality of teaching, the college has successively built 10 training centers, cooperated with the People's Government of Chang'an Town, Haining City to organize the Haining Canal No.1 Grand Innovation Park, and established off-campus practical teaching bases with a large number of enterprises and institutions inside and outside the province There are 115, with a total value of more than 47 million yuan in teaching and research equipment. The college library currently has a paper collection of more than 970,000 volumes, 71 Chinese and foreign language databases, digital resources and the school-based library to achieve resource sharing, 18 reading rooms of various types, a total of more than 3,300 reading seats.
The college attaches great importance to the construction of the teaching staff. The college actively carries out international exchanges and cooperation to create a platform for students to study abroad. Carry out student study tours, paid internships and exchange studies, study MBA and international masters and other forms of cooperation and exchange programs, and establish cooperation mechanisms with more than 20 overseas universities in the United States, Britain, France, Canada, Australia, Japan and other countries. The Royal Chartered Accountants (ACA) and the American Certified Management Accountants (CMA) are among the top independent colleges in the province in international education.
The college has formed a relatively complete mechanism to encourage students to study and innovate. The college implements a student transfer system to encourage students who have spare capacity to study minor majors; students with particularly outstanding academic performance can be transferred to the school headquarters at a certain percentage at the end of the second academic year and obtain a diploma from Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics.
