Zhejiang Shuren University (Zhejiang Shuren College) was founded in 1984. It is one of the earliest full-time private universities established in my country since the reform and opening up. The school is sponsored by the Zhejiang Provincial Political Consultative Conference and supervised by the Provincial Department of Education. In 2003, approved by the Ministry of Education, the school was upgraded to an undergraduate university. In September 2004, Comrade Xi Jinping, then secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee, inspected the school, highly affirmed the school’s achievements in running a school and gave important instructions. In 2015, the school was identified as an applied pilot demonstration school in Zhejiang Province. At present, the school has two campuses in Hangzhou Gongchen Bridge and Shaoxing Yangxun Bridge, covering an area of 1,232 acres, with a total value of more than 190 million yuan in teaching equipment, a library collection of more than 1.75 million books, and more than 880,000 electronic books. It has been ranked first in the competitiveness ranking of private undergraduate colleges in China for many years.
There are nearly 17,000 students in the school, 12 secondary colleges, 44 undergraduate majors, 5 junior college majors, including 1 national characteristic major, 4 provincial key majors, 1 provincial superior major, and 1 Provincial Advantage Construction Major, 4 Provincial Emerging Feature Construction Majors, 3 Provincial Characteristic Construction Majors. It has 5 provincial first-class disciplines, 2 subject bases including the Belarusian National and Regional Research Center of the Ministry of Education and the Provincial Modern Service Industry Research Center, 2 provincial industry platforms, 1 provincial innovation team, and 25 school-level research institutions and platforms.
