Ningbo Dahongying College is a full-time private general undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education. The school's predecessor was Ningbo Dahongying Vocational and Technical College founded in 2001. In 2008, it was upgraded and renamed Ningbo Dahongying College with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
