Zhejiang International Studies University is a public provincial undergraduate college with coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as literature, economics, management, education, science, and art based on foreign languages and literature. The predecessor of the school was the Zhejiang Institute of Education, founded in 1955. It began general undergraduate education in 1994 and was restructured and renamed with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 2010. The school motto is "Mingde Hongyi Boya Mastery".
The school is characterized by cultivating international application talents. Currently recruiting students from 16 provinces (autonomous regions) across the country, with 8,545 full-time students (including international students). The school actively carries out international education exchanges and cooperation.
