Dianxi University of Applied Sciences (hereinafter referred to as "Dianxi University") is the first batch of applied technology universities in China approved by the Ministry of Education in April 2015. In May 2017, the school was formally established with the approval of the Ministry of Education. As a new type of ordinary public undergraduate university, Dianxi University mainly cultivates applied high-level technical talents urgently needed for regional economic and social development.
Dianxi University makes full use of the model of German and Swiss Applied Technology University, adopts the open school structure of headquarters plus a number of characteristic colleges and applied technology research institutes (1+N+M), and integrates "politics, production, learning, research, and application". The mode of running a school is based on the principles of “layered governance, integration of production and education, demand-driven, cooperative education, open connection, and joint construction between provinces and ministries”, starting from the strategic needs of economic and social development in Western Yunnan, focusing on undergraduate education, The integrated development of vocational education and continuing education. Construct a training program and curriculum system based on job vocational competence, and implement a "dual certificate" system for academic degree certificates and professional qualification certificates.
The school is headquartered in Dali City, Dali Prefecture, Yunnan Province, with a planned land area of 329 acres and a total construction area of about 188,000 square meters. The first batch of three characteristic colleges, Dai Medical College (located in Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Prefecture), Pu'er Tea College (located in Simao District, Pu'er City), and Jewelry College (located in Tengchong City, Baoshan); In May 2018, the School of Management directly under the school was formally established Established. The school headquarters established the West Dian Financial Research Institute (co-constructed with Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and Hengfeng Bank), the West Dian Vocational Education Research Center, and the Featured Colleges respectively established applied technology research centers.
The school has fully grafted the high-quality educational resources of the "985" and "211" key universities directly under the Ministry of Education. It has obtained Beijing Normal University, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Northeast Normal University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan ), Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, Yunnan University, Kunming University of Science and Technology, Yunnan Agricultural University, Dali University and many other universities provide all-round support. The Yunnan branch of the Institute of Physics and Botany and many other scientific research institutes and industry companies cooperate in running schools, and carry out regular visits to many universities under the Ministry of Education to realize the three-dimensional training of high-level technical talents.
In order to give full play to the pilot demonstration role as soon as possible, the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education agreed that in 2016, the three characteristics of Dianxi University will be jointly developed with Dali University, Pu'er College, and Baoshan College to carry out the cooperative training of three undergraduate majors in rehabilitation therapy, tea science, and arts and crafts. Each of the three undergraduate professional programs enrolls 100 students for a total of 300 students. In 2017, the school successfully completed the enrollment plan of 480 students in six majors: rehabilitation therapy, Dai medicine, Chinese pharmacy, tea science, gemstone and material technology, and product design. The 2017 students have now successfully transferred to various specialty colleges to start the new academic year. . In 2018, the school added 7 undergraduate enrollment majors (health service and management, marketing, logistics management, food science and engineering, plant science and technology, resource recycling science and engineering, leisure sports) and 3 college majors (crafts and arts) Design, jewellery technology and management, leisure sports), planning to enroll 1,050 students (including 910 undergraduates and 140 juniors).
