Yunnan Agricultural Vocational and Technical College is a full-time public higher education institution approved by the People's Government of Yunnan Province and filed by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.


The predecessor of the school was the Yunnan Sericulture School founded in 1904. It was the first vocational education in Yunnan. The school offers 54 majors and 11,359 students. The predecessor of the school was the Yunnan Sericulture School founded in 1904. After the founding of New China, it was renamed Kunming Agricultural Technical School. In 2002, with the approval of the People's Government of Yunnan Province, Yunnan Agricultural School and Yunnan Animal Husbandry and Veterinary School merged to form Yunnan Agricultural Vocational and Technical College. In 2018, the school was under the management of the Department of Education, and the Yunnan Breeding Promotion Center for Breeding Animals, Breeding Poultry, and Original Pigs was incorporated into the school and the Yunnan Breeding Promotion Center brand was added to the school. In the 117-year history of running a school, the school has transported more than 50,000 agricultural science and technology talents to the society.


The development of the school is closely connected with a number of major events in Yunnan history, and has made important contributions to major historical events, and has a glorious revolutionary tradition. In 1913, Marshal Zhu De served as a gymnastics instructor at the school. In 1929, Wang Desan, the first secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, taught here. From 1938 to 1939, the former National Southwest Associated University's School of Science, Liberal Arts and Law and Business School once served on the Jiaoling campus of the college. The school was run, and the original teaching building of the school used to be a guest house for the Flying Tigers from 1941-1942.
