The school has a rich historical and cultural heritage. The school’s history can be traced back to the "Teaching Training Institute for Teachers’ Training" opened in 1907. Qujing Teachers College was established in 1993 (renamed Qujing Teachers College in 1993), and Qujing Education College was established in 1984.
