The Haiyuan College of Kunming Medical University was co-founded by the former Kunming Medical College and Kunming Fidelity Development Industry (Group) Co., Ltd. in June 2001. The first enrollment began in July 2001, and independent enrollment was achieved in September 2003. In January 2004, it passed the first batch of audits by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and was confirmed as an independent college. It is the only independent college of higher medical and health undergraduate in Yunnan Province.
