【School History】The predecessor of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics was the Yunnan Provincial Finance Cadre School, which was founded in 1951; in 1979, it opened a financial and trade college class to recruit college students; in 1981, Yunnan University of Finance and Trade was established and began full-time undergraduate education; in 1998, it merged with Yunnan Economics School of Management; In 1995, it was designated as a provincial key university by the Yunnan Provincial Government; in 2006, it was renamed as Yunnan University of Finance and Economics; in 2013, it became a doctoral degree authorization unit, and in 2014 it obtained the first post-doctoral mobile station. [Foreign Cooperation and Exchange] The school insists on opening up schools and recruits students covering language, undergraduate, master, and doctoral levels from all countries and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. It is the unit that issues foreign visa invitations approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is exempt from verification. The Bangkok Business School of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, which is co-organized in Thailand with Rangsit University of Thailand, is the third overseas school approved by the Ministry of Education in China. As a training base for international business officials of the Ministry of Commerce, it has undertaken the Ministry of Commerce's aid to developing countries’ academic degree education programs and short-term training programs, and trained a total of more than 2,700 government officials from 89 countries. Now it has long-term and short-term student exchange cooperation projects with universities or institutions in more than 40 countries including France, Japan, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Austria, Thailand, and Myanmar.
