Kunming University of Science and Technology was founded in 1954 and was then named Kunming Institute of Technology. In 1995, it was renamed Kunming University of Science and Technology. In 1999, the former Kunming University of Science and Technology merged with the former Yunnan University of Technology to form the new Kunming University of Science and Technology.
