For more than 40 years since the establishment of the college, the college has always focused on the fundamental task of cultivating socialist builders and successors, closely focused on the major needs of plateau science and local economic and social development, and fully carried forward the "old Tibet spirit" and the college's "spiritual spirit" Based on the characteristics and advantages of its location on the plateau, the main battlefield of Tibet’s economic construction and the “three rural areas” will carry out personnel training, scientific research and social services, and serve Tibet’s agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry, water conservancy, hydropower, and ecological industries. More than 20,000 full-time professional and technical personnel have been trained and transported, and they have become the cradle of leaders at all levels, scientific research backbones, and management backbones in Tibet, forming a distinctive school-running feature based on the plateau, facing Tibet, and serving "agriculture, rural areas, and farmers". One is the plateau characteristics. Aiming at the construction and protection of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau ecological security barrier project, focusing on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau farmland, mining area, grassland, river valley, wetland and other fragile ecological types, researched and developed the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau alpine grassland restoration, land desertification control, mining area vegetation construction, dry river valley afforestation, Techniques and models such as farmland rehabilitation measures have been applied and promoted in some areas. The college gives full play to the advantages of disciplines and professions, is anxious for the "three rural" issues, and thinks about the "three rural" thinking, in rapeseed, Tibetan pig, Tibetan chicken, Tibetan medicinal materials, forestry engineering, forest resources, ecological safety, ecological civilization, etc. In the field, construct a database of Tibetan characteristic resources, research and develop key technologies such as high-efficiency planting of main crops, healthy breeding of characteristic livestock, utilization of Tibetan medicinal resources, processing of traditional and modern products, vegetation construction in plateau rivers and valleys, and protection of Tibet’s ecological safety barriers. An influential academic highland, a research and development base for industry and industry common technologies, and a leading position for regional innovation and development.
