Xinjiang Applied Vocational and Technical College

Xinjiang Applied Vocational and Technical College is an independent public full-time institution established in early 2012 with the approval of the People’s Government of the Autonomous Region and filed by the Ministry of Education to cultivate applied and skilled talents in accordance with the needs of economic and social development and the adjustment of the layout of colleges and universities. Since the establishment of the Seventh Nongqi Normal School in June 1974, the college has gone through Kuitun Normal School, Kuitun Teachers College of Yili Prefecture, Ili Prefecture Teachers' Training College, Yili Education College, and Kuitun Campus of Yili Normal University. In August 2014, the college signed the Trusteeship Agreement with the Tacheng District Administrative Office, hosting the Tacheng District Health School and the Tacheng District Wusu Vocational and Technical School, which promoted resource sharing, achieved complementary advantages, and expanded the development of the college space. In July 2018, the Party Committee of the Autonomous Region adjusted the affiliation of the college to the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture in accordance with the needs of the layout of higher vocational education in the entire region. After 46 years of development, more than 30,000 students of various types have been trained, making due contributions to the economic construction, social development and education of Xinjiang and Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture. He has successively won the honorary titles of "National Advanced Collective of Ethnic Education", "National Advanced School for Adult Higher Education", "National Advanced Unit of School Art Education".


The college currently has four campuses, including the main campus, the north campus, the south campus, and the west campus, as well as the Wusu South Campus and the Wusu North Campus that are managed. At present, the school building area of the college is 128057.91 square meters, of which 56486.74 square meters are used for teaching and research assistance, 4,309.83 square meters are used for administrative office, 61736.42 square meters are used for living, and 5524.92 square meters are used for welfare and auxiliary use. The library has a collection of 302,000 volumes, 1,479 computers for teaching, 143 broadcast audio classrooms, 85 network multimedia classrooms, and 3 professional audio classrooms. The college currently has 471 faculty members, including 418 faculty members and 53 external teachers. There are 288 full-time teachers in the faculty, including 174 professional course teachers and 114 public course teachers. The full-time teachers have 5 senior titles accounted for 1.7%, 48 have deputy senior titles accounted for 16.7%, and 129 had intermediate titles accounted for 44.8%. Among the full-time teachers, there are 143 "dual-qualified" and "dual-qualified" teachers, accounting for 49.7%. The college currently has 36 three-year majors in higher vocational colleges and 32 perennial enrollment majors, which are classified into 16 major categories and 23 major categories, of which 1 is the primary industry, accounting for 2.85%; the secondary industry is 13, accounting for 34.2 %; 22 tertiary production, accounting for 60%. In 2020, there will be 15 majors for five-year enrollment and 4 majors for secondary vocational enrollment. At present, the college has 9,490 students (excluding trust schools), of which 7,736 are in higher vocational schools and 1,754 are in secondary vocational schools.


The school actively promotes the construction of internship training rooms and training bases, and has successively invested in the construction of tourism management, legal secretarial, architectural and construction majors, building automation, health care, electrical and electronics, mechanical automation, textiles and clothing, chemical engineering, and garden technology internships. There are a total of 175 on-campus internship training rooms such as training rooms and preschool education majors. Strengthen school-enterprise cooperation, continue to deepen the integration of production and education, and establish 192 off-campus internship and employment bases.


The college attaches great importance to the cultivation of students’ hands-on and innovative abilities, and has established an entrepreneurial employment park for college students in cooperation with Kuitun City, providing free venues, facilities and related training for students who aspire to start a business on their own. Students provide 10 types of job training and appraisal work. Adhere to the promotion of teaching through competitions, organize students to win 2 awards in the National Vocational College Skills Competition and 51 awards in the Autonomous Region Vocational College Skills Competition; and won 3 bronze medals in the Xinjiang Division of the National "Internet +" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition , 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, and 4 third prizes in the Xinjiang District Level Competition of the China University Computer Design Competition, and the second prize of the first "Xindao Cup" Vocational School Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in the autonomous region. In 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, the one-time employment rate and year-end employment rate of graduates for six consecutive years were 91% and above.
